WATCH THE 2019 VA SHOWCASE LIVE ON FLOTRACKLast March at New Balance Nationals Indoor, North Rockland beat out Lake Braddock 11:34.85 to 11:39.10 to set a new national high school record in the DMR. Lake Braddock wasn't happy about it but with all four girls returning to the track in 2017, they knew they had a strong shot to break the record this year. It turns out they didn't have to wait for nationals as all four legs were raring to go at the VA Showcase and they combined for a final time of 11:34.54 to just slightly edge out the old record! Here's the national record splits:1200m - 3:41 (Shannon Browning)400m - 59 (Skyla Davidson)800m - 2:16 (Samantha Schwers)1600m - 4:37 (Kate Murphy)

Meet management is excited to announce that for the first time in United States history, Team Jamaica will send a high school relay team to compete indoors. This team, St. Jago (St. Catherine, JAM) is one of the most storied powerhouses on the island and has won the Girls' ISSA Champs four times. They are also one of only two high schools to have won both the Boys' and Girls' Championships in a single year.

It is no secret that the competition at the VA Showcase this January is going to be fast but it is not only about the track at this showcase meet. The field events are going to be providing just as much excitement if not more than the track events.
In exactly 30 days, on January 13th and 14th, all eyes of track nation will be on just one meet, the VA Showcase. It will feature the greatest field of athletes ever assembled outside of the New Balance National Championship. This meet will feature athletes from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, DC, Maryland, Florida, and even Jamaica!
So we know St. Jago, and really any Jamaican team, will bring the heat but they are not the only team in this race. Also slated to compete in this race and more specifically the top section of this race is current US #1 Western Branch, The Bullis School, and Grassfield. All three of these American teams are 1:37.5 or better teams.
Though the final section will be filled with likely eight girls all seeded under 3:00, there are five girls that just stand above the rest for this five lap, 1000m race.
