VA Indoor Week #7: Woodford US #1 500

Back from a long two days in Lynchburg for the mega-sized Liberty Invitational. Results are now posted from Liberty, FUMA, Suffolk Stars, Eastern Challenge (UNC), and St. Christopher's. Recap, stories, interviews, photos, and videos to come!

The girls 500 saw a great battle between two of the state's quickest middle distance talent in Patrick Henry's Natalie Woodford and Midlothian's Paige Johnston. Johnston had broken 5 minutes for the first time on Friday night in the 1600 meter run with a US #6 4:59.59, while Woodford had won the 300 meter dash on Friday in 41.80 prior to Saturday's 500 meter dash. Woodford got to the break point before Johnston and did not relinquish the lead as she powered her way to a national leading 1:15.49 performance. Johnston's runner-up time of 1:17.25 ranks her #8 in the country. Both runners crashed to the track after the finish line immediately following their national caliber races.
